MPD Recertifies 17 K9 Teams

BIRTHDAY TODAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AS WELL. TRAINING DOGS TAKE LOTS OF PATIENCE. AND PRACTICE TOO EVEN AFTER THE ANIMAL LEARNS SOMETHING. THE MINNEAPOLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT SHARED THESE PICTURES ON FACEBOOK YESTERDAY. EVERY YEAR THEY HAVE A CANINE RECERTIFICATION TRIALS. JUST TO KIND OF PROVE THESE DOGS STILL HAVE THEIR SKILLS UP. WELL, YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES THEY'RE TRAINING THE HUMAN OFFICERS AS MUCH AS THE DOGS. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT THE CANINE UNIT DID VERY WELL. THE MINNEAPOLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS A CANINE UNIT MADE UP OF TWO SERGEANTS, 15 OFFICERS. TOTAL OF 17 TEAMS. 14 ARE MEANT FOR PATROLS. 11 ARE TRAINED TO DETECT NARCOTICS. THREE ARE EXPLOSIVE DETECTORS. TWO QUALIFIED TRACKING BLOOD HOUNDS TOO FOR MISSING PEOPLE OR SUSPECTS. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS PHOTO. LOOK AT THAT DOG CLIMBING A SIX FOOT WALL. ONLY A COUPLE OF PIECES OF WOOD TO USE AS STEPS. STRONG. VERY STRONG..
